The most useful piece of Thailand travel news for Central Europe this month is not another festival poster. It is a timetable. LOT Polish Airlines starts scheduled nonstop Warsaw-Bangkok flights on Wednesday 7 October 2026, the first regular commercial link between Poland and Thailand since the airline dropped the route in May 2000.
If you are doing Thailand vacation planning from Warsaw, Krakow, Gdansk or anywhere that feeds Chopin Airport, this cuts the usual Middle East or Western Europe connection. You board a Dreamliner in the afternoon and clear Suvarnabhumi the next morning. That is the whole story. The rest is frequencies, how to get into the city, and how the extra morning hours change a Thailand itinerary.
What is actually launching, and when
TAT welcomed the route in December 2025 under its Airline Focus work with the Royal Thai Embassy in Warsaw. The start date later moved forward. TAT's 25 May 2026 note, after a Bangkok tabletop sale with Polish agents, set the commercial pattern that still matches published schedules in September:
- First scheduled flight: 7 October 2026.
- Opening frequency: three times a week.
- From 26 October 2026 through winter 2026/27: five times a week.
- Aircraft: Boeing 787 Dreamliner in a 252-seat layout, with AeroRoutes logging a mix of 787-8 and 787-9 metal.
- Flight numbers: LO65 Warsaw to Bangkok, LO66 Bangkok to Warsaw.
AeroRoutes' 22 July 2026 schedule extract for the 10-23 October window is the most precise public grid we have. Treat it as the working plan, then reconfirm on the airline site before you buy extras around it.
- LO65: depart Warsaw Chopin 15:45, arrive Suvarnabhumi 07:05 the next day.
- LO66: depart Suvarnabhumi 09:05, arrive Warsaw 15:20 the same day.
- Block time: about 10 hours 20 minutes west to east in winter; the return is longer, closer to 12 hours, because of the jet stream.
TAT's December 2025 release listed the winter five-day pattern as Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. That is the shape to plan around after 26 October. The first three weeks in October will be thinner. Do not assume a Friday departure exists just because a friend flew Friday on a charter last winter.
What it costs, and what it does not say
Neither TAT nor LOT has published a fare band that we can treat as official Thailand travel news. Promo screenshots on social media are not a tariff. Check the airline site for the date you actually need. Winter seats on a new long-haul often look cheap in September and then jump when Polish tour operators block space.
What TAT has published is how Polish travellers already use the country, which is the useful budget frame:
- Average stay: about 14 days.
- Average spend: about 68,800 baht per person per trip, TAT's 2025 figure for the Polish market.
- 2025 arrivals from Poland: 237,570, up 31.46 percent on 2024.
- 1 January-18 May 2026: 137,772 Polish arrivals, up 17.08 percent on the same stretch of 2025.
- Winter 2026/27 forecast on this route: about 47,000 visitors and 3.196 billion baht, TAT's own projection -- a target, not a boarding count.
A 14-day stay still fits the 30-day visa exemption that replaced the old 60-day stamp on 15 September 2026 for eligible passports, including Poland. If your plan is three months of island hopping, this flight does not change the visa math. File the Thailand Digital Arrival Card before you land. That rule is separate from the airline.

How to get off the jet and into Bangkok
LO65 lands at Suvarnabhumi (BKK), not Don Mueang. That is the right airport for the Airport Rail Link, the eastern hotels, and most same-day trains toward Ayutthaya. Budget the morning like this:
- Immigration and bags: 45-90 minutes if the Digital Arrival Card is already submitted and the 787 arrives on time. First week of a new route can be slower while ground staff learn the turn.
- Airport Rail Link: the practical public option into the city. City Line to Phaya Thai or Makkasan is the usual tourist pattern. Keep small baht for the ticket machines.
- Grab or official taxi: 300-500 baht to Sukhumvit in light traffic, more if you land into Monday rain. Use the official taxi queue or the app. Do not follow the first tout in the hall.
- Bolt: works in Bangkok; coverage at the kerb can be patchier than Grab at dawn.
- Airport taxi meter: still fine. Insist on the meter. Expressway tolls are extra, in cash.
The 09:05 return means you cannot treat LO66 as a sleep-in departure. If you are staying in old town or on the west bank of the Chao Phraya, leave the hotel before 06:00. Suvarnabhumi check-in for a long-haul is not a 40-minute errand.
How the flight changes a Thailand itinerary
TAT told trade partners that Polish travellers already cluster on Bangkok, Krabi, Koh Samui and Chiang Mai. A dawn arrival at BKK makes those combinations cleaner than a 23:00 arrival off a Gulf connection.
A working two-week shape for travel to Thailand on this aircraft:
- Nights 1-3, Bangkok: land, sleep, then do the river and the Grand Palace when you can stand upright. This is still the core of Bangkok tourism for a first visit.
- Nights 4-8, islands or the south: domestic hop to Samui, Krabi or Phuket. Late rainy season in early October still means Andaman swell. Gulf islands are often the safer beach bet that week.
- Nights 9-12, Chiang Mai or the north: cooler air, temples, cooking school. Pair with a night in Chiang Rai only if you have the buffer.
- Last 48 hours, Bangkok again: you need to be at BKK for a 09:05 long-haul. Do not book a 20:00 dinner in Pai on the night before LO66.
That is one of the easier best places to visit in Thailand loops you can run without touching a land border. The flight does not make Thailand islands closer in kilometres. It makes the first morning in the capital usable.

Practical catches before you click buy
- This is Thailand travel news about a scheduled year-round service, not a winter charter. Seat maps and baggage rules follow LOT's long-haul contract, not a package-tour brochure from last January.
- Power banks stay in the cabin. From 16 October 2026, Thai airports may open a checked bag without you standing there if screening flags it. Pack the lithium in the backpack you carry on.
- October is still the tail of the rains. Thai culture days in the city work in a shower. Open-boat days on the Andaman often do not. Build one indoor spare day.
- If you connect from a regional Polish city, add a legal minimum connection in Warsaw that you would defend to a stranger. A 55-minute hop onto LO65 is how people miss the inaugural week.
- Overstay math starts the day you are stamped, not the day LOT advertised.
The honest read of this Thailand travel news item is narrow. You get a morning arrival, a same-afternoon aircraft going home, and one fewer night in a Gulf hub. Use the extra dawn in Bangkok. Do not invent a Friday frequency that is not on the grid. And if your only free week is the first week of October, book the three-weekly pattern -- not the five-weekly winter story that starts on the 26th.
