Good news for anyone whose Bangkok tourism plans involve a suitcase with room left in it. On 16 October the Tourism Authority of Thailand relaunched and widened ASEAN India+ Shoppers in Thailand 2026, a third-year campaign that hands registered visitors a bundle of shopping, dining, hotel and lifestyle privileges worth between 500 and 2,000 baht. More than 50 partners are taking part, and the window runs to 28 November.
The concept this year is “MORE VALUE. MORE THAILAND.” TAT Deputy Governor for Marketing Communications Parichat Boonclai described the approach as “value over volume”, with the revenue spread across Thai brands, SMEs and local businesses rather than concentrated in a handful of luxury halls. TAT is targeting 30,000 participating tourists and at least 244 million baht in spending — modest numbers against the 23.4 million international arrivals Thailand logged between January and September, but the campaign is aimed at a specific set of markets.
Who qualifies, and who does not
This is the part to read before you get excited. The campaign is built around ASEAN and Indian travellers, and the 2026 edition extends it to visitors from Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. It is not a universal tourist discount: if you are arriving on a European, North American or Australian passport, the privileges are not aimed at you. Everything else on this page — the districts, the transport, the tax refund — applies to everyone.
For the markets it does cover, the offers sit across department stores, shopping centres, restaurants, Thai consumer brands and hotels. Named partners include King Power, Central and Robinson, The Mall Group, Siam Piwat, ICONSIAM, One Bangkok, MBK Center, Asiatique The Riverfront, Centara and Jungceylon in Phuket, alongside Thai brands such as MAMA, Erb, Jula's Herb and Ginger Farm Kitchen.
How to claim the privileges
- Register online. Scan the campaign QR code or go to aseanindiashoppers.com and answer a short set of questions.
- Pick your offers. Privileges are selected from the campaign list rather than issued automatically, so choose before you shop.
- Redeem in store. Show the offer at the participating business. Expect discounts, vouchers and gift-with-purchase deals rather than cash back.
- Ask the ground staff. TAT has people stationed at the airports, in Pratunam and in the main shopping districts to help with registration and redemption.
Bangkok tourism by shopping district
Most of the partner list clusters into four walkable districts, and knowing which is which saves a lot of wasted taxi time. This is the practical shape of Bangkok tourism for anyone who came to shop.
Siam and Pathum Wan
The centre of gravity. Siam Paragon, Siam Center and Siam Discovery sit in a row on Rama I Road, connected by skywalk to MBK Center, where eight floors of phone cases, luggage, tailoring and souvenirs still undercut everything around it. Malls here open around 10.00 and close at 22.00. Budget 350–600 baht for a food-hall lunch for two.

Pratunam and Ratchaprasong
Ten minutes north on foot. Pratunam is wholesale clothing sold by the piece if you ask nicely, and the Platinum Fashion Mall is the indoor version of it; Ratchaprasong, around the Erawan Shrine, is the department-store end with CentralWorld. This is also where the campaign has posted its on-ground staff, which tells you where TAT expects the spending to happen.
The Chao Phraya riverside
ICONSIAM on the Thonburi bank and Asiatique The Riverfront further south are both free to walk around and both run free shuttle boats from Sathorn pier, below BTS Saphan Taksin. Asiatique is an evening place: the Sky ferris wheel, a warehouse district of small shops, and dinner on the water. ICONSIAM's ground-floor SookSiam hall recreates a floating market indoors and is the gentlest introduction to regional Thai culture and food in the city.

One Bangkok and Lumphini
The newest of the four. One Bangkok opened on the Rama IV and Wireless Road corner in late 2024 and has been filling up ever since with The Storeys, the Parade retail block and a run of restaurants and galleries. It is a short walk from Lumphini Park, which is the right way to start the day before the heat arrives.

Getting between them
The districts are all on rail. BTS Skytrain fares run roughly 17–62 baht a trip and MRT fares 17–45 baht, and the two systems need different payment: a Rabbit card (200 baht, 100 of it non-refundable, passport required) for the BTS, and a contactless Visa or Mastercard straight at the gate for the MRT, the monorails and the Airport Rail Link. Note that the 20-baht flat fare you may have read about is for Thai nationals registered in a government app, not for visitors — the same pattern as this month's domestic flight promotion.
For hops the train does not cover, Grab and Bolt between Siam and the riverside run around 90–160 baht depending on traffic, and the Chao Phraya Express orange-flag boat is 16 baht a ride. Our Bangkok destination guide breaks the neighbourhoods down in more detail.
Claim your 7% VAT refund as well
The privileges campaign has nothing to do with the tax refund, and the two stack. This is the single biggest saving in Bangkok tourism and most visitors never claim it. Spend 2,000 baht or more including VAT at a single shop on a single day, ask for the P.P.10 form with your tax invoice and check the passport details match. Goods must leave Thailand with you within 60 days.
At Suvarnabhumi the Customs inspection counter is on Floor 4, Entrance 10, and is the stop you must make before check-in if a single item is worth 20,000 baht or more. The refund office itself is in the departure lounge after immigration, with a drop box outside it for straightforward claims. Cash refunds are paid up to 30,000 baht; above that it is card only. It is slow at peak hours, so add 45 minutes to your airport plan.
Fitting a shopping day into a Thailand itinerary
Two days is enough for all four districts, which leaves the rest of a two-week Thailand itinerary intact. Do the malls in the afternoon heat and save the evening for Bangkok street food — Yaowarat's stalls fire up around 18.00 and the rains are finally easing, as our cool-season briefing explains.
After that the coast opens up. The list of things to do in Pattaya grows from November as the sea flattens, and the Koh Larn beaches are a 30-baht public ferry from Bali Hai Pier; our Pattaya and Jomtien guide has the timetable, and Koh Larn has its own page. For the Thailand islands proper, including Koh Kood travel out on the Trat seaboard, December to February is the window — good Thailand vacation planning puts the city at the start of the trip, not the end, so the shopping goes home in a bag you are not carrying up a pier.
Practical tips
- Register before you fly. The campaign closes on 28 November and the offer list is first-come on some partners.
- Carry your passport, not a photo of it. Both the Rabbit card desk and every VAT refund counter want the physical document.
- Keep receipts separated by shop. The 2,000-baht threshold is per store, per day, and a split receipt is a lost claim.
- Haggle in Pratunam, not in Paragon. Market stalls expect 10–20 per cent off at three or more pieces; malls have fixed prices.
- Do the riverside on a weekday. Asiatique and ICONSIAM shuttle queues at the weekend can run half an hour.
- Leave the last morning free. Suvarnabhumi's refund queue and the Airport Rail Link together need two and a half hours before a flight.
None of this makes shopping the reason to travel to Thailand. But it is the thing almost everyone ends up doing — TAT's own 2025 survey found 91 per cent of international visitors shopped during their trip — and this is a rare stretch of the Bangkok tourism calendar where an official campaign, the tax refund and the start of the cool season all line up in the same six weeks.
